![]() ![]() Phys Adept can use fists or a sword without spending any more or less Karma or putting points differently. The disarm is pointless because you can already completely lock down an opponent due to the AP drain of Qi attacks. Sure, you can get the AoE attack but it's so low damage that it's not wrorth using, and Counterattack does the same thing, just a bit differently. Phys Adept has no reason whatsoever to pick up Melee Weapon or Unarmed skills. ![]() Seeing as I'm already investing in willpower for the hermetic traditions anyway, it's not a big deal for the extra karma for the extra line of defenses. Personally in these games, since I don't have to stick to the traditional "you can only have one type of magic" restriction of the pencil and paper rule sets I splash physcal addept into my combat mage builds to give them some extra survivability. A whole extra path to have to take for effectiveness, so like I said, it's a longer karma road for the phys adept at the absolute basic break down. ![]() That's the karma vs nuyen trade off really in a nutshell. Pys adepts need both willpower and the phys adept caster line in order to function, the samurai only needs nuyen to get similar effects thorugh cyberwar like dermal plating and wired reflexes. Street sams can invest into one tree for the new cyber affinity and even out this karma a bit if they choose) Now here's where that trade off comes in: If points to spare thrown weapons are fun ways to give these close in fighters some ranged flexability. (cyber affinity is a nice new addition but not a requirement for either one to function)īoth pick either melee weapons or unarmed combat typically (the street sam and probably be a little more flexible on this front) ![]()
